Ways to Show Your Clients/Customers You Appreciate Them!

As research proclaims, customers are the lifeblood of any company. Retaining customers becomes a matter of survival for companies that operate within an increasingly saturated industry. Moreover, studies show that word-of-mouth marketing from a loyal customer base brings infinitely more value than most marketing campaigns.

How a business express its gratitude to clients depends on its business model. A surprise discount on a treasured patron’s bill may work in some cases; however, showing one’s appreciation to clients differs from an occasional freebie in at least two ways. First, appreciating one’s client should be continuous and is not limited to isolated events. Second, doing so need not cost you a cent. Read on for three inexpensive but effective ways to make your customers feel valued.

1. Treat your clients like human beings—it’s not quite as easy as it sounds. Businessmen are hardwired to regard each client as a source of business, but overcoming this habit opens up opportunities to build a fulfilling relationship with clients. This involves remembering their birthdays and keeping in touch even when business has slowed down.

2. Ask them for feedback and suggestions. Your customers will be flattered that you value their input. Of course, your sincerity matters, as this works only if your customers know that you will take their suggestions into consideration.

3. Embody the essence of customer service. Be willing to go the extra mile in pleasing your customers, even when inconvenient. Show genuine concern when problems arise and always resolve conflict politely.

At the end of the day, spectacular customer service matters only insofar as you can address your client’s needs. In the long run, however, building a gratifying relationship with your clients can give you a leg up on competitors and can bring you good business for years to come.
